This role combines hands-on carpentry expertise with leadership, planning, quality control, and project coordination. The successful candidate takes full ownership of job site operations, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, manages trades and subcontractors, and maintains True North's high standards of craftsmanship and professionalism.

As the on-site leader, the Lead Carpenter oversees all aspects of project execution, from reviewing drawings and planning work schedules to coordinating trades, materials, and site activities. The successful candidate is expected to anticipate project needs, maintain productivity, and ensure work progresses efficiently with minimal oversight. This role is responsible for supervising crews, maintaining a safe and organized job site, and ensuring all work meets True North’s standards for quality and craftsmanship. The Site Supervisor conducts regular quality checks, addresses issues promptly, and ensures installations are completed correctly the first time. Strong communication and accountability are essential. The ideal candidate proactively communicates project updates, identifies potential delays before they occur, and takes responsibility for project outcomes and team performance. They lead by example, demonstrate professionalism, and consistently deliver a high standard of work. Responsabilités

  • Project Planning & Execution

    • Review project drawings, specifications, schedules, and scope before work begins.
    • Develop and execute an action plan for project completion.
    • Coordinate trades, subcontractors, materials, and timelines.
    • Identify project risks, delays, and material requirements proactively.
    • Ensure work progresses according to schedule and quality expectations.

    Site Leadership

    • Take full ownership of day-to-day site operations.
    • Lead and supervise carpenters, laborers, and subcontractors.
    • Provide direction, support, and accountability to site personnel.
    • Foster a professional, productive, and safety-focused work environment.

    Material & Resource Management

    • Plan material requirements in advance.
    • Verify that materials, fixtures, and equipment are available before installation.
    • Review installation instructions and manufacturer requirements ahead of scheduled work.
    • Coordinate tool and equipment usage and return when no longer needed.

    Quality Control

    • Inspect work regularly to ensure compliance with company standards.
    • Verify installations are accurate, level, plumb, and functioning correctly.
    • Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective action is taken promptly.
    • Promote craftsmanship, attention to detail, and pride in finished work.

    Site Safety & Organization

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
    • Conduct routine site inspections and housekeeping reviews.
    • Minimize safety hazards and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
    • Promote professional site standards at all times.

    • Communicate project updates, concerns, and delays proactively.
    • Report issues before they impact schedules or budgets.
    • Take responsibility for project outcomes and crew performance.
    • Collaborate effectively with project managers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Informations supplémentaires

  • Experience Required

    • Minimum 5 years of residential or commercial construction experience.
    • Previous experience leading crews, managing trades, or supervising job sites preferred.
